The Smoke That Thunders
Victoria Falls
Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya — "The Smoke That Thunders" — Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Located on the Zambezi River on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, it stretches 1,708 metres wide and plunges 108 metres deep.
The sheer power of the falls creates a perpetual mist visible from over 50km away, nourishing a lush rainforest within the gorge. At peak flow, over 500 million litres of water cascades over the falls every minute.
